1960 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz for Sale
SOLD! A rare opportunity to own a highly-collectible 1960 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz in Champagne Metallic (paint code 97) in excellent condition with documented provenance and ownership history. This three-owner classic is exceptionally cared for and driven regularly. It’s drives like a dream with exactly that expected Standard of the World ride and commands attention as it glides down the road.
For 1960, Cadillac produced just 1,285 examples of the Eldorado Biarritz – their top-of-the-line luxury model with a base price tag of $7,401, making it one of the most expensive cars available that year. The Biarritz moniker was inspired by the French coastal village of the same name and this model year represented an historic transition for Cadillac both in terms of design team leadership and philosophy.
Legendary General Motors design icon Harley Earl retired with the 1959 model year and was succeeded by his onetime mentee, and well-regarded in his own right, Bill Mitchell. The stylistic differences between the 1959 and 1960 Cadillacs couldn’t be clearer. 1960 design was more streamlined and, many say, more elegant than the famously over-the-top 1959 examples. However, the Cadillac luxury and ride quality remained along with the powerful and responsive 390ci engine.
Showing 68,439 miles on the odometer, the exterior paint is complemented by the Beige Metallic Florentine and Cardiff leather upholstery (trim code 15) and an Ivory convertible top (top code 1). Options on this beauty are E-Z Eye Glass and the Autronic Eye (senses oncoming traffic and automatically dims the high beams). She also maintains her original fiberglass convertible top boot. Connecting her to the road and offering a better than original ride is a set of radial tires.
Restored and meticulously cared for, recent service includes the braking system including new brake hoses and wheel cylinders as well as a cooling system upgrade with a new water pump, thermostat and a restored radiator with an upgraded high-efficiency core. The chrome and brightwork have been restored and is beautiful. The paint is very nice, there are a few imperfections that you will see in the photos. The interior is beautiful, no cracks in the dash or steering wheel.
The restoration was performed by F.E.N. Enterprises with the interior completed by famed classic Cadillac upholsterer, Elsa Mauer Nicodemus.
A correct-style battery was recently installed, along with an oil change and tune up being performed. Additionally, the generator was just rebuilt and the regulator was serviced and adjusted. She also received a new white convertible top, her high and low note horns were just rebuilt and the six-way power seat components were recently serviced.
Having just three owners since leaving Cadillac’s famed Clark Street manufacturing plant, this big-finned beauty still has in its glovebox the original New York State Department of Motor Vehicles temporary certificate of registration with the original owner’s name and dated June 28, 1960. Furthering the provenance are the engine bay award plaques signifying its Antique Automobile Club of America National First Prize status (also earning both First Place Junior and Senior designations) as well as its Cadillac & LaSalle Club (CLC) Senior award designation. At the time, “Senior” was the highest level of recognition attainable at the CLC Grand National Meets. Also under the hood is the original dealership decal.
Currently owned by a Cadillac & LaSalle Club Board member and a highly-regarded 1959 & 1960 Cadillac aficionado, this 1960 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz for sale is driven and enjoyed regularly from late Spring to early Autumn. It is readily available for inspection where it can be driven and examined while on a lift, if so desired.
This classic car collector’s dream is ready for her devoted new owner who enjoys driving his/her classic as much as they enjoy looking at it.
